Our Lord is constantly pouring out graces upon mankind, yet only a few — those closest to His heart — know how to receive them. Sadly, countless graces are left unclaimed (likely many by you!) and are thus never allowed to further God’s will on earth. How different our lives would be if we accessed God’s grace more intentionally! Thankfully, God in His compassion gave us a perfect model for disposing ourselves to His graces and responding to them: the Blessed Virgin Mary. In The Imitation of Mary, Fr. Quan Tran shows you how to imitate the twelve essential qualities of Mary in order to unleash a torrent of graces in your life. He explains that, like any gift, grace must be received, opened, and used. As you learn how, you’ll begin to acquire the temperaments, dispositions, and qualities that are most pleasing to God — and you’ll serve as a channel of God’s grace for others. You’ll also learn: The three major obstacles to living a life of faith What to do if you experience a crisis of faith The four levels of happiness — and how to acquire them How it’s possible for you to merit an increase in graces Seven ways you can cultivate a rich devotion to Our Lady The difference between sanctifying grace and actual grace The four effects that grace will have on your soul

Ideas about relativity underlie much ancient Greek philosophy, from Protagorean relativism, to Plato's theory of Forms, Aristotle's category scheme, and relational logic. In Ancient Relativity Matthew Duncombe explores how ancient philosophers, particularly Plato, Aristotle, the Stoics, and Sextus Empiricus, understood the phenomenon and how their theories of relativity affected, and were affected by, their broader philosophical outlooks. He argues that ancient philosophers shared a close-knit family of views referred to as 'constitutive relativity', whereby a relative is not simply linked by a relation but is constituted by it. Plato exploits this view in some key arguments concerning the Forms and the partition of the soul. Aristotle adopts the constitutive view in his discussions of relativity in Categories 7 and the Topics and retains it in Metaphysics Delta 15. Duncombe goes on to examine the role relativity plays in Stoic philosophy, especially Stoic physics and metaphysics, and the way Sextus Empiricus thinks about relativity, which does not appeal to the nature of relatives but rather to how we conceive of things as correlative.

In the New Testament of the Bible in the book called the Acts of the Apostles, we see a church and a people impacted by the power of God. These people applied themselves to study the teachings of the church, to prayer and also enjoyed a caring fellowship. This church affected the world around it and great signs and miracles were normal. As Christians today we can and should live the continuation of the Acts of the Apostles and the continuation of the normal church. In the chapters of On the Way: Basic Christian Training, we explain how you become a Christian. We weave verses from the Bible and explanations into a narrative to show you how you can grow into all God intends for you to be. We help you to see how you can experience the power, meaning, and fulfillment only God can bring.

These commentaries, part of a set from noted Bible scholar John MacArthur, take readers on a journey through biblical texts to discover what lies beneath the surface, focusing on meaning and context, and then reflecting on the explored passage or concept. With probing questions that guide the reader toward application, as well as ample space for journaling, The MacArthur New Testament Commentaries are invaluable tools for Bible students of all ages. They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. - Titus 1:16 Somewhere along the line we've lost the true meaning of being a Christian. These days, it seems that everyone who is not a follower of some other major world religion is considered a Christian. The United States is considered a Christian country, yet its declining morals, its tolerance of sin, and its growing disdain for any association with the Bible proves otherwise. In the third of the pastoral epistles, Paul reminds Titus that faith and actions go hand in hand. He emphasizes the importance of worthy conduct and instructs the church to teach sound Christian doctrine in the face of prevailing heresy.Join John MacArthur as he studies God's Word in order to understand and apply the instructions given in book of Titus.

Since the name Christian made its first appearance, the meaning of the word has gone through many name changes. Today there are as many meanings of Christian as there are denominations. And disturbingly, most of them bear a denominational, not a biblical imprint. Brian Byrne has put aside his denominational spectacles and has taken a long hard look at what the scriptures have to say about the identity, life, works, and future of a Christian. And the results will surprise you. Brian Byrne has found that the life of every Christian involves the separation of the things that belong to God from the things of the evil one. And integral in that separation is the question, "To whom do Christians give their allegiance?" He then explores the life, character, works, and accomplishments of the One whose name Christians bear, our Lord Jesus Christ. Included in his study is the essential element in Christian's relationship with the Lord. It is by faith. He has found that one of the great "missings" in the lives of Christians is the presence and work of the Spirit. Brian has explored this subject in considerable depth. He has followed this study with a study of Christian as disciple, exploring seven elements in the life of a disciple, and each one bears the imprint of the Spirit. The family of God to whom all Christians belong has a special place in Brian's study. He treats this special subject not as doctrine, but as practical reality, as the environment in which Christians are to express their faith. Brian explores the surprising glory for the Christian that is beyond this life. He concludes the book with details of a number of important words that Christians need to know and to apply. Christian: Not of This World is an essential resource for everyone who bears the name Christian and for those who teach the principles of our faith.

John couldn't believe his eyes as he tried to shield himself from the bullet racing toward him. He told himself it had to be a dream-but it wasn't. It was just the beginning of the hardship and humiliation that his fellow soldiers would inflict upon him. When an unexpected personal attack (In the Columbia Recruiting Battallion/ with duty in the Charleston South Carolina Army Recruiting Company Oct 1997 to Feb 2001) threatened John's military career, he had to draw upon a reservoir of undiscovered strength that his past experiences had instilled in him. John's story is the story of an American soldier who refuses to accept defeat, never give up, and will journey to hell and back in order to fight for the one thing his enemies are determined to destroy-his honor.
