Book Description: Using the critical approach of the New Historicism and the sociological insights of Ernst Troeltsch, this study addresses the complicated issue of how the German Romantic poet, Friedrich Hölderlin, shifts religious vocabulary to the aesthetic realm, by examining his relationship to pietist groups in his native Württemberg. The study is divided into three sections: 1) a literature review and methodological statement; 2) overview of the spectrum of positions represented within Württemberg pietism, and a discussion of three pietists known to have had contact with Hölderlin in his youth and as a student; 3) analysis of a representative selection of Hölderlin's works - including his early poems, Hyperion, his theoretical writings on aesthetics, and a number of his late hymns - in light of their relation to Württemberg pietism.

Book Description: Foretaste of Heaven is a witness to the enabling grace of God in a time of grave illness. It shows how the Christian hope of the Resurrection of the Dead and of Life Everlasting lifts the mind and heart above the sadness of imminent death and fills the soul with joyful anticipation of heaven. The Psalms in particular are seen as a well from which can be drawn assurances of God as truly "a very present help in time of need."

Book Description: More than ever, the pursuit of love becomes lost in the desert of desire and passion. Disappointment, hurt and regret are usually common feelings afterwards. Is there a remedy? How can we avoid such heart-breaking situations? What can we do differently that will help us find the true love we seek and build solid relationships that last? In A Foretaste of Heaven, Brereton answers these questions and offers readers hope. His wisdom, practical advice and insight prescribe the antidote for anyone seeking but failing to find true love. Through his own story, Brereton provides proof and explains how the path to happiness intersects with the word of God. God's Word offers you guidance and hope, as long as you are willing to seek it out and accept it. When one roots their relationship in Christ, they create a strong and lasting covenant of love, commitment, and faith. Return to God's plan and reap the rewards of what a true and honest courtship can bring to your life.

Book Description: Does the Bible tell us specifically what heaven will be like? What will the new earth and the capital city, New Jerusalem, be like? Is heaven a real, physical place or just some kind of spiritual realm unlike anything on earth? What will people look like in heaven? What will we do forever and ever? Will there be buildings, families, nations in heaven? What language will we speak? Where is heaven? Will we see God there? Find answers to these and over 300 questions you've always wanted to ask about Heaven. This easy-to-read book is based on doctoral research, but written for the layman to present a Biblical picture of what life in eternity will be like. My hope is to bring new excitement and understanding to the average person in the pew, as well as to the Bible scholar. Perhaps it will even encourage those who do not believe everything in the Bible but do believe in a heaven. Yes, I believe the Bible tells us much about what Heaven will be like. Eden, the tabernacle, the promised land, the kingdom parables, the millennial kingdom, the church, all paint a picture of eternity. Many of the great themes and teachings of Scripture present, at the very least, a type or taste of what Heaven will be like. "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things wich God hath prepared for the that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit" (1 Cor 2:9,10). Life is short and full of troubles. The good things of this world are so temporary. They are but a taste of better, eternal things to come. Only those things which last forever are real and worthwhile. But how can you look forward to something you know little about? I hope this book will fill in some of those blanks for you, encourage you to read God's Word, and give you a taste of heaven.

Book Description: In this book Giles Dimock answers some the most commonly asked questions about the Eucharist that have been posed to him in his preaching and teaching. He starts off with questions on the Jewish background of Eucharist and then examines the Last Supper and its theology in the light of the Paschal Mystery. Some of the other questions deal with transubstantiation, sacrifice, Real Presence, communion, and intercommunion. Fr. Dimock's answers are both practical and ecumenical. The questions range from the straightforward Why is the Eucharist called Holy Communion, What is Forty Hours, to the more involved What is said about the Eucharist in the Code of Canon Law? Father Dimock places the teaching of the Church on the Eucharist in conciliar and papal documentation. Here is a book, appropriately appearing at the culmination of the Year of the Eucharist, that will satisfy the spiritual as well as theological curiosity of college students and seminarians studying the Eucharist, as well as probing, informed lay people.

Book Description: In July of 2016, Jesus spoke to Gwendolyn in a vision, saying, I have placed some books inside of you. You will need to vomit them up. In another vision, Jesus gave crystal-clear cylinder glasses of water to Gwendolyn and her daughter and gave them the urgent command, Quick! We need to get these to everyone in order for them to be caught up in the rapture! In The Joys of Heaven, a two-part series, Gwendolyn poured out these books proclaiming the power of the cross and of Jesus great love, which heals and transforms lives. In Part 1: Faith For Change In America, the first of these very powerful and inspirational books, she appeals to the unsaved to make Jesus their Lord while empowering the believer to move forward by faith. She also discusses several revelations of staggering events to come that will affect the immediate future of mankind. In Part II: A Closer Walk with God, Gwendolyn challenges believers to step up to a higher standard of holiness, to experience a deeper fellowship with Jesus, to take back the power that belongs to the church, and to march onward and upward to victory. She charges them to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit and to once again experience the power of God to do the miraculous among us.
